Farmer buyouts: a copout?

Mining industry: no evidence of federal bailouts

Forestry industry: no evidence of federal bailouts; in fact, the federal government adopted an explicit non-intervention policy in 1994.

Fishing industry: evidence of federal bailout in the early 1990’s following the closure of the Atlantic cod fishing industry due to depleted stocks.

Why should tobacco growers be treated to the tax payers’ purse when they had access to the same information we have: consumption rates have been going down for the past 30 years as has the value of tobacco?
